WHO WE ARE

Proud to Serve You & Our Community!

At KRO’s we feature as many local ingredients as we can!   Some of our farm friends include Smith’s Country Cheese (Winchendon, MA), Red Apple Farm (Phillipston, MA), Westfield Farms Goat Cheese (Hubbardston, MA) & we're always looking for more!

KRO’s on the Common has a rotating menu that changes seasonally & everything is made fresh on site.  We offer a variety of made from scratch items including breakfast pastries, homemade bagels, English muffins, pop-tarts, cookies & various desserts.

ABOUT THE OWNERS

KAREN OSTERBERG & TERRY FOUGERE

We are Karen R. Osterberg (KRO’s) and Terry Fougere, a wife and husband team. Karen has been a chef for the past 20 years in several restaurants, country clubs and event facilities with her most recent position, leading the event teams at Webber Restaurant Group since 2005.

Karen has had a dream of owning a small restaurant and after looking at several dozen properties had given up on the idea until mid-2018.  One fateful summer day, she received a message from her close high school friend Shelley, stating that the old Country Mischief property (a small breakfast/lunch cafe that also sold beautiful antiques and crafts in a 200+ year old brick colonial home) was on the market.   Karen tricked Terry into thinking they were going out for breakfast, and well, long story short, they sold their home in Gardner, Karen’s beloved convertible and began renovating their new home on the second floor and KRO’s on the Common restaurant on the first floor.

Terry has a Bachelor's Degree in accounting and has been with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections since 1992.  He has recently retired so now you will find him doing some landscaping of the property, greeting our guests, bussing tables and maybe even in the kitchen!
